A spring powered penetrative captive bolt poultry stunner suitable for on farm poultry slaughter
The smaller device in this range is rated by the manufacturer as suitable for small rodents (we suspect they mean rabbits which are not strictly rodents) up to 5kg of body weight and fattened poultry up to 16kg, however our recommendation is that the smaller unit is suitable for smaller breeds of poultry (chickens and lighter ducks) but for larger birds (turkey and goose sized) the larger unit is more suitable. The large unit has a manufacturer’s recommendation of birds up to 25kg and is considerably larger, heavier and more powerful.
Unlike other captive bolt stunners, this unit does NOT require a power source (battery or mains) and does NOT require cartridges to be purchased.
This item is intended for the small operator (up to 100 uses per year) and is a more affordable alternative to the more expensive captive bolt devices that require blanks to operate them. The stunner projects a captive 4.7mm bolt that projects 25mm and as such must be used by a trained operator following the safety instructions.
For larger poultry such as turkeys and geese we recommend the large poultry stunner.
