Just Add Chickens 8 Hen Kit

Description

Getting chickens can present you with a daunting array of coops, runs, feeders, drinkers and so many other types of equipment, and in response to requests from our customers, we’ve created “Just Add Chickens” available in a 4 hen, 6 hen and 8 hen size.

This kit provides you with all of the equipment you’ll need (except the chickens!) to welcome up to 8 medium sized chickens to your home.

In our core kit you’ll get:

• Chick’A Harmony 8 hen Coop: Made from 70% recycled plastic with great green credentials, comes with a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty on plastic parts, easy clean (use your pressure washer!), and red mite resistant.
• 3kg Ascot Feeder: Comes with a rain hat so the feed stays dry and removable feet to raise it off the ground
• 6.5l Drinker: Comes with a carry handle, or use the handle to hang the drinker to keep the water from being fouled
• 20kg Heygates Layers Pellets: A complete pelleted food for laying hens
• Compressed bale of Snowflake Supreme dust extracted wood shavings: This is our preferred bedding that we use in our coops. Wood shavings are very cost effective as you can easily remove dirty bedding without removing everything

We are offering some options to upgrade the kits to give your chickens greater security (and treats!):

• ChickenGuard Pro Coop Auto-Opener: ChickenGuard are the market leader in coop auto-openers with good reason. The unit can be programmed to open and close your doors based on timer, light levels or manually. You can mix and match these setting e.g. the door opens at dawn using light levels but closes each day on a timer. It allows you to adjust the light level settings so you can adjust for full sun or shade depending on where you place your coop. We use this auto-opener on many of our coops.

• 3m x 8m Walk-In Garden Life Direct Run. This is a very robust, durable run, a highly secure option to keep your chickens safe. A great choice if you are out at work and want the peace of mind of knowing your chickens are safe while you are not there. The run is equipped with 1” weld mesh allowing for an anti-dig predator skirt around the perimeter and a removable cover for 1 x 2m bay. We have 3 of these runs in various sizes and LOVE them. • Electric Fence Kits: These provide a moveable secure perimeter allowing your chickens to free range while deterring any ground predators from getting to your chickens. The kits are available in a 25m or 50m and are COMPLETE. A tip to work out the right length for you is to use a 25m or 50m hosepipe and lay it out so that you can see the area that it will surround in your garden. Our kits include:
  • Poultry mesh with poles (25m or 50m)
  • Extra poles as you can NEVER have enough poles (25m kit = 6 poles, 50m kit = 12 poles)
  • Hotline Gemini 120 energiser
  • 1m T-bar earth stake
  • A hot gate allowing you to enter the enclosure without turning off the fence.
  • 4 x rigid corner posts
  • An electric fence led tester
  • A fence repair kit
  • A Hotline 12v 35amp/hr twin pack leisure batteries complete with charger. This means you can power the fence with one battery while charging the other so your fence is never without power.

• Feldy 6 x Pecker Blocks: Make your new hens welcome by treating them to 6 different flavours of Feldy Pecker Blocks. Each block comes with its own hanging loop so all you need to do is to remove the block from the tub and hang it up. We found that hanging the blocks on a chain or a cord adds to the entertainment. They act as a perfect boredom buster which can reduce anti-social behaviours. You’ll get Original (1.25kg), Berries (1.25kg), Seaweed (1.25kg), Garlic (1.25kg), Grazer (1.25kg) and a Seed Block (1kg)
