We’re Hugh & Fiona. We lived busy professional lives with office jobs before making a life changing decision to move to the countryside to live “The Good Life”.
We have a thriving YouTube channel where you can watch how-to videos on our self-sufficient lifestyle. This is where our shop, our website and our social media careers started and we would love you to join us across our various social media accounts.
Our rural dream has come true. We grow vegetables and fruit as well as breed Orpington chickens. We make many of our household products. We reuse, recycle and repurpose to reduce our bills.
It’s been a real learning process and through our social media we were asked for tutorials on everything we have learned. Our YouTube channel was born! Here’s an idea of what we do…..
Growing
We grow many of our own vegetables and fruit. Our growing space includes a vegetable garden, fruit cage, orchard, greenhouses and lots of plant pots dotted round in every free space!
Preserving
We practice multiple food preserving methods including dehydration, freezing, clamping, pickling and pressure canning.
We preserve both raw ingredients and complete meals.
Livestock
We breed Buff Orpingtons using the natural broody instincts of this breed.
We sell hens, fertilised eggs as well as producing eggs to eat and raising cockerels for the table.
Making
We make many of the things that we need on our smallholding / homestead. Why buy when we can create?
Our mantra is make, mend, reuse, recycle.
